Rough Sawn softwood timber is a long-lasting timber when pressure treated and will sustain the harsh English weathers for years to come, therefore allowing you to shop with the future in mind. In terms of the 3 types we currently offer, these are 150mm featheredge, 4”x1” and 6”x1” covering a range of options and designs that could be achieved. These are of very high quality producing a neat finish and open grain with small defects such as knots adding character and personality. All these boards can be installed easily due to the lightweight features and straightforward process of securing boards to the horizontal rails or cavities using either \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.ruby-group.co.uk\/collections\/ruby-uk-cladding-fixings\/products\/50mm-nails\"\u003e50mm nails\u003c\/a\u003e or \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.ruby-group.co.uk\/collections\/ruby-uk-cladding-fixings\/products\/tongue-tite-plus-screws\"\u003eTongue-Tite Plus screws\u003c\/a\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThere are no secrets that featheredge cladding is the most cost-efficient way of cladding your buildings and creating the overlapping design that so many people want and crave. It is normally fitted horizontally, and the wedge shape boards will overlap each other slightly to create a strong and durable structure that is watertight and windproof. In terms of the timber species used, the boards are a Spruce\/Larch mix that has been pressure treated using a green Tanalith Pressure Treatment with a rough sawn finish. Individual boards are 150mm wide and cut on an angle from 22mm boards therefore creating a tapered cross section that will vary from 15mm down to 7mm. This means that the thick edge of the board will be 15mm and the thin side 7mm.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e6”x1” and 4”x1” Softwood timber is a diverse and adaptable timber that can be used for a vast number of different projects. The profile of the boards is very simple but creates a modern and current design that will last for many years to come. In many projects, a small gap between each board is present to cover more surface area whilst also giving the building a contemporary feel. However, this does not provide a watertight and weatherproof structure and so a wall cavity will be needed or a ‘double run’ where the boards are installed on the other side of the batten. These boards are pressure treated using a Green Tanalith pressure treatment and therefore long-lasting and rot
